Colaborando Juntos (CJ) is an innovative network of government, nonprofit, faith, private and community volunteers who work with and for the Latino/Hispanic community and its well being. CJ increases public awareness of critical issues by encouraging partnerships and leveraging resources. CJ serves the Central Virginia region. “Colaborando Juntos”…it means working together.
CJ Principles
1) CJ facilitates an exchange of ideas, where Latino/Hispanic and U.S. cultures learn from each other and enrich their mutual understanding.
2) CJ activities serve to educate, inform, and increase community awareness.
3) CJ is a catalyst for action-oriented solutions.
4) CJ members operate in a collaborative fashion, seeking to identify needs, coordinate efforts, and fill gaps in service provision rather than duplicate services
What have we done?
• We have served as a model for regions across the Commonwealth on how to develop a comprehensive organization to address the needs of Latinos/Hispanics in the area.
• We have provided a public forum where dozens of speakers have been able to present research and information on Latino/Hispanic issues in the state.
• Members of CJ have developed cultural diversity trainings offered free of charge to the community.
• Developed recommendations for consideration to the Governor’s Economic Development and Workforce.
• We have developed a resource guide listing contacts for service providers across the region
• Compiled a Guide for Employment that includes resume and interview tips, information on worker rights, employee responsibilities under the tax law, how to return to work after unemployment, budgeting, training and support resources and more.
• Networking and educational events for Latino/Hispanic small business owners.
• Participating in and coordinating events such as Smooza Palooza whose goal was increase the level of awareness of the Hispanic/Latino businesses in our community.
• Development of a Plaza Comunitaria offered at Ramsey United Methodist Church.
• Dia de Salud Health Fair at St. Augustine’s Church

• CJ is a collection of over 200 organizations that offer thousands of services for Latinos/Hispanics in the greater Richmond area.
• We offer resource guides, informational forums, fairs, educational events, and networking opportunities for all interested individuals and organizations.
• You or your organization will benefit from the resource connections, outreach opportunities, and direct projects that we take on.
• By participating in our activities and in our leadership, you have the opportunity to develop your leadership and professional skills within the human service, advocacy, public administration, education, business, and workforce development fields.
